Throughout the ‘Best Jobs in the World’ finale I acquired a ton of great footage and photos. I have been sitting on this content for the last week trying to figure the best way to share with the world. The experience is still something I am finding difficult to express, the incredible people, the challenges faced, the beauty of Australia seen through the eyes of someone new to the country.
Looking through the content has already become somewhat nostalgic and I truly miss the 17 other finalists. They are inspiring people and ones I hope to stay in touch with throughout the years to come. I think that there is a purity found in travelling somewhere you have never been, meeting new people, being a part of something bigger than oneself. I found that with the Best Jobs finale and am only now beginning to realize the extent of how this feeling will shape the rest of my life. This is it. This is what I live for. This is why I travel. …and this… this is my latest quick edit of Australia so far. So check it out, I hope you like it!
Since the winners announcement my journey through Australia has been a whirlwind of awesomeness. I rented a car with a fellow G Adventures Tour Leader and hit the road running. As of right now Pascal and I have completed 1700kms in 7 days. It has been a crazy ride down the South East coast of Aus and one I am just begging to document now (see next post) and these photos.
Sadly the road trip has now come to an end and I write this post from a friend’s house in Merijig, Victoria at the base of Mt. Buller (look that one up, it might surprise you). I am here for a couple days catching up on emails and trying to sort my life out. From here I will head to Melbourne for the weekend, catching the Collingwood/Carlton footy match, before flying to Adelaide.
I will spend the week of the 08th-12th in Adelaide. I am very much looking forward to meeting the wonderful staff of the South Australia Tourism Commission. If it’s any indication from the ones I’ve already met, these people are some of the most genuine, talented, ambitious and creative people I have had the pleasure of meeting thus far in SA. I can’t wait to share stories of the road and ideas of the future. If you are reading this, be ready, I’m on my way and I’m bringing presents!! The idea is to get in the good books for at least a little while eh 🙂
From Adelaide I fly back to Sydney on the 12th then Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on the 15th. My ‘Best Jobs’ finale trip is slowly coming to an end and as sad as that is, it has opened up such an incredibly promising future. To all of the people who are following this story, you are the reason I share this experience with the world, it is you who are my inspiration, and you who I will follow into the depths of this fascinating world. Hold on tight, this ride is only just beginning. Do you have your tickets?
