Just outside of the Adelaide city centre lies the aptly named Mt. Lofty and threshold to the Adelaide Hills. This region of SA is teeming with rolling green landscape stretching as far as the eye can see, with nature reserves and private lands each vying for a little chunk of the perfect natural beauty. And what better way to see it then from the seat of a mountain bike cruising your way down a single track, saying G’Day to wild Koalas, smiling to the sun, and feeling the warm breeze rush past as you descend back to the city.
From the summit you are offered stunning views of the city and a trail system that accommodates any style of rider, from easy beginner trails to steep advanced and more challenging descents. One of the best parts of the Mt. Lofty Descent was the stop over at Cleland Wildlife Park to check out some of the local Australian endemic wildlife, feed some Kangaroos and say hi to Tassie Devils and Koalas. Then to add to the incredible wildlife, it is pretty much a guarantee you will see wild koalas in the gum trees along the route down.
I highly recommend you check this out as a great day trip option from Adelaide! It is a rush.
